Peanut butter and jelly, popcorn and movies, baseball and springtime — all winning combinations that never fail to put a smile on your face. On June 15, 2012, you'll be able to add another prized combo to that list: Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg.
The two "Saturday Night Live" legends are joining forces for a new Happy Madison comedy called "That's My Boy," hitting theaters this June. In the film, Sandler stars as a down-on-his luck man trying to reconnect with his estranged family on the week of his son's (Samberg) wedding. It's a bizarre setup — after all, Sandler is only 12 years older than Samberg in real life — but, as one would hope, the film offers a reliably ridiculous explanation for the small age gap.
If the basic premise and the involvement of actors Sandler and Samberg don't have you fired up for "That's My Boy," just wait: The first official trailer is set to drop on MTV.com on Thursday, and Samberg himself couldn't be more excited for it.
"I never thought I would actually get to be in a movie with Sandler, certainly not playing his son," Samberg told MTV News ahead of the trailer's release. "For me, I've been such a huge fan of his for so long; I used to listen to 'Billy Madison' on audio cassette in my Walkman. I'm a real-deal Sandler fan. I'd definitely put [this experience] up there with being cast on 'SNL' or any of the other things I've gotten to do — making [Lonely Island] records with my buddies — things I've always dreamed of happening but never thought they would. I'm pretty psyched."
As a self-declared "real-deal Sandler fan," Samberg was far from disappointed when it came to watching the comedy legend do his thing on the "That's My Boy" set.
"Sandler is basically on fire in this movie," he said. "In real life, he's about the sweetest dad I've ever seen. But in the movie, he's a bit of a train wreck. If we were making a documentary, it would be called 'Sweet Loving Dad.' But I think ['That's My Boy'] is going to be a little bit more entertaining and edgy than that."
Stay tuned to MTV News on Thursday for the "That's My Boy" trailer premiere!

<P>Maybe <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a>' lucky number is 30. The singer turned 30 this year, marking the landmark birthday on December 2 with a fan-voted MTV News tournament that crowned <a href="/news/articles/1675289/britney-spears-tournament-winner-30th-birthday.jhtml">the Best Britney Video of All Time</a>. But her 30th year also proved to be an incredibly successful period in her career. <center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:720934/cp~vid%3D720934%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A720934" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></center> For the first time in a while, she seemed comfortable being the pop megastar that she is. More than a decade into her career, Spears re-emerged as a <a href="/news/articles/1675474/britney-spears-femme-fatale-favorite-album.jhtml"><i>Femme Fatale,</i></a> giving fans a fist-pumping album, embarking on a flashy tour and dropping more memorable music videos. Britney Spears fandom was reenergized as the singer came out of her shell, opening up about this phase in her career as well her personal life in several high-profile interviews. So it's probably not surprising that Spears will cap off the year at #4 on MTV News' <a href="/news/articles/1676177/newsmakers-2011-lady-gaga-amy-winehouse.jhtml">Top Newsmakers of 2011</a> list, just behind Lil Wayne. "When I was younger, I was busy, busy, and I was always singing and dancing all the time. I was just really creative," she recalled in the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/videos/news/638813/britney-hits-the-studio-with-william.jhtml#id=166112">MTV special "I Am the Femme Fatale."</a> "That's when my mom realized I'm a really creative person." She let that creativity shine over the past 12 months. From <a href="http://www.mtv.com/videos/britney-spears/624145/hold-it-against-me.jhtml#artist=501686">"Hold It Against Me"</a> to <a href="http://www.mtv.com/videos/britney-spears/639722/till-the-world-ends.jhtml#artist=501686">"Till the World Ends"</a> to her Chris Marrs Piliero-directed "I Wanna Go" and "Criminal," Britney made headlines every time she dropped a music video. But no vid stirred up as much controversy as her <a href="/news/articles/1672795/britney-spears-criminal-video-director.jhtml">"Criminal" clip</a>, which featured real-life boyfriend <a href="/news/articles/1676120/britney-spears-is-engaged.jhtml">(now fiancé) Jason Trawick</a> — and his abs. "At the end of the day, Jason killed it," Piliero told MTV News of Trawick's cameo. "That was one of those things I was really stoked [about], as much as I went into it like, 'Wow, he's not an actor. This is going to be interesting,' but I really do like a challenge, and I really do like the idea that I'm a director and my job is to direct and get the performance. For me, it was a fun challenge to be like, 'I'm gonna make sure that you are awesome,' and he was." Between video shoots, Spears hit the road with <a href="/news/articles/1668836/nicki-minaj-britney-spears-tour.jhtml">the likes of Nicki Minaj</a>, Joe Jonas, and DJ Pauly D. Spears fully embraced her sensuality on the <i>Femme Fatale</i> Tour, a spectacular show full of costume changes, elaborate stage setups and stunning mini-films. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:638813.id:1661123" width="240" height="211"></div><p> And while much of the 2011 VMA buzz was about <a href="/news/articles/1669849/beyonce-pregnant-vmas.jhtml">Beyoncé's baby bump</a> and <a href="/news/articles/1669843/lady-gaga-you-and-i-video-music-awards-performance.jhtml">Jo Calderone</a>, Spears stole the spotlight by walking away with a Moonman for Best Pop Video and the prized <a href="/news/articles/1669873/britney-spears-vma-tribute.jhtml">Video Vanguard Award</a>. She also had tongues wagging after an onstage kiss from Jo (a.k.a. Lady Gaga), just before she was honored with an electrifying dance tribute that highlighted some of biggest career moments. "It was really crazy. I had no idea what to expect," Spears told us backstage at the VMAs. "The kids were amazing and so entertaining, and it was a really fun night. It was really cool. I was like, 'Wow, that's really sweet!' " As 2011 came to a close, Spears wrapped up her tour, and MTV News threw her a birthday bash in the form of the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/content/news/2011/britney30/index.jhtml">"30 Videos for 30 Years"</a> tournament. The competition was heated but in the end, Spears' iconic "I'm a Slave 4 U" took home the prize. And just when it seemed things couldn't get any better, <a href="/news/articles/1676167/britney-spears-jason-trawick-engaged-timeline.jhtml">Britney confirmed she was engaged</a> to Trawick after dating for two years. She showed off her Neil Lane ring during a celebratory weekend in Las Vegas. <b>MTV continues our <a href="http://www.mtv.com/specials/best_of/">Best of 2011</a> coverage by looking back at the biggest pop-culture stories of the year. A group of real-life Navy SEALs stormed the box office this weekend, kicking overall theater grosses into high gear for the eighth consecutive week. "Act of Valor" commanded the #1 spot with a $24.7 million debut, which contributed to an overall box-office number up roughly 23 percent from the same period last year.
"Tyler Perry's Good Deeds" was #2 with $16 million during its first weekend in theaters. Meanwhile, the Judd Apatow-produced comedy "Wanderlust" starring Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd and the Amanda Seyfried thriller "Gone" both flopped.
"Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" was #3 with $13.4 million for a three-week total of $76.7 million. Last weekend's #1 movie, "Safe House," dropped to #4 with $11.4 million for a $98.1 million total. Next week it will likely become the fourth Denzel Washington movie to cross the $100 million mark. "The Vow" rounded out the top five with $10 million for a three-week total of $103 million.
A departure from the filmmaker's "Madea" movies and broader ensemble comedies, "Good Deeds" had the second worst opening for a Tyler Perry film. ("Daddy's Little Girls" opened with $11.2 million in 2007.) Like most of his movies, "Good Deeds" was not a hit with critics, either. "It's indisputable that Perry has improved as a filmmaker throughout his meteoric rise to success, but that growth only brings into clearer focus the deficiencies he has yet to outgrow," wrote Box Office Magazine's Todd Gilchrist.
Apatow also suffered the second lowest debut for a film with his name attached, with "Wanderlust" beating only his 2007 "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story." "Wanderlust" opened with $6.6 million, while "Gone" trailed behind with just $5 million.
Best Picture winner "The Artist" did the best of all of the Oscar contenders at the box office over the weekend, picking up another $3 million and adding an additional 158 theaters for a domestic total of $31.9 million. "The Descendants" made another $2.2 million for a $78.5 million total. "Hugo" made $1.6 million (in significantly fewer theaters) for a total of $69.4 million. "The Help," "Midnight in Paris," "Moneyball" and "The Tree of Life" are all available for home viewing; "War Horse" is due on Blu-ray and DVD on April 3.
"Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace" crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office thanks to the recent 3-D re-release, making the first of George Lucas' "Star Wars" prequels the 10th-highest-grossing film of all time, not counting for inflation. "The Phantom Menace" passed "The Dark Knight" over the weekend.
Other movies that have crossed the $1 billion mark include "Avatar" ($2.7 billion), "Titanic" ($1.8 billion; soon to receive a 3-D re-release as well), "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" ($1.3 billion), "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" ($1.1 billion), "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" ($1.1 billion), "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" ($1.06 billion), "Toy Story 3" ($1.06 billion), "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" ($1.04 billion), and the 2010 "Alice in Wonderland" ($1.02 billion).

She?s always up for a challenge, and Lady Gaga will reportedly have a cameo appearance in the upcoming ?Men in Black 3? film.
According to the movie?s star Will Smith, the ?Poker Face? songstress is one of a few famous guests in the flick.
Smith told press, ?We have a couple of celebrity cameos, but I think I can not reveal who they are... We must keep as a surprise that Lady Gaga appears.?
It?s all part of Mother Monster?s master plan to take over movie world. She previously told Ellen DeGeneres, ?I mean, I guess my dream would be to be in a Woody Allen movie or something. That would sort of be my dream.?

Nine-time host pokes fun at Jonah Hill and Christian Bale and gets a kiss from George Clooney.

Billy Crystal performs at the 84th annual Academy Awards
Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images
There were jokes about old relatives, bar mitzvahs and other tried-and-true familiar shticks from the only comedian to host the Oscars nearly as many times as Bob Hope, but Billy Crystal came armed with a surprising amount of some Ricky Gervais-style bite, too.
The veteran comedic actor's ninth turn as host of the Academy Awards followed a string of headline-making turmoil behind the scenes. Crystal was drafted to replace Eddie Murphy, who walked after producer Brett Ratner (who had directed Murphy in "Tower Heist") abruptly left the show following his use of a homophobic slur at a Q&A. Producer Brian Grazer eventually stepped in.
The show began with two Crystal staples: a montage of clips from the Best Picture nominees featuring the former "Saturday Night Live" castmember and a musical number that jokingly referenced several folks seated in the audience. They were moments that were as rewarding, if predictable, as the sweep "The Artist" made of several major categories on Sunday.
A few months ago, somewhat controversial Golden Globes host Gervais tweeted a picture of him and his Academy Awards counterpart together and wrote, "Just told Billy Crystal he'd better not use any of my holocaust or pedophile material at The Oscars. He agreed (true)." And while the opening sketch did include a Hitler reference and blackface (in the form of the comedian's well-established Sammy Davis Jr. impression), Crystal mostly kept it tame, recruiting Justin Bieber, George Clooney and Tom Cruise for cameos.
Here are the top five Billy Crystal jokes from the 84th Academy Awards, as we saw them:
5. In the montage, Crystal awakes to find himself in a hospital scene from "The Descendants" being kissed by Clooney. Later in the show, he looked at Clooney's girlfriend, Stacy Keibler, and quipped: "You're a lucky girl. He's a very good kisser."
4. Before Christian Bale took the stage, Crystal began: "A 'Dark Knight,' an 'American Psycho,' a charismatic crack addict. You'll get to choose one on Super Tuesday." It was a swipe at the Republican presidential nominees, sure, but Crystal soon zeroed in more closely on the next presenter, referencing that infamous viral rant from 2009. "Academy Award winner — and be careful if you're in his eyeline — Christian Bale."
3. During the song, Crystal brought up Jonah Hill's tremendous post-"Moneyball" reduction in physical size. "It's great you shed weight," he sang to the actor. "But I think you should know, there's cupcakes after the show."
2. In recent weeks, news hit that the Kodak Theater would be changing its name, due to the longtime sponsor's recent financial troubles. "We're here at the beautiful Chapter 11 Theater," Crystal said, in one of many related jokes.
1. Much like Gervais' digs at the Globes, the Oscars themselves were the host's biggest target: "Nothing takes the sting out of these tough economic times like watching a bunch of millionaires giving golden statues to each other," he smiled.

The lady of the night, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/adele/artist.jhtml">Adele</a>, sparkled from head to toe on the red carpet in a black Armani gown, showing off a lighter hair color in her first performance since having <a href="/news/articles/1673944/adele-throat-surgery-recovery.jhtml">vocal-cord surgery</a>. <a href="http://style.mtv.com/2012/02/12/grammy-awards-fashion-best-dressed/"><b>MTV Style picks their best-dressed at the Grammys.</b></a> Fellow British artist Jessie J shined on her first Grammy red carpet, turning heads in a gray Julien Macdonald gown. "I just wanted to wear something that I don't usually wear, which is silver, something long and very heavy," Jessie told MTV News. "I feel like a disco ball at the event." <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/perry_katy/artist.jhtml">Katy Perry</a> was <a href="/news/articles/1679098/grammy-awards-katy-perry.jhtml">feeling blue at the Grammys</a>, matching her blue hairstyle to a light-blue, long-sleeved Elie Saab gown. "One of my absolute favorites of the night was Katy Perry," <a href="http://www.celebuzz.com/" target="_blank">Celebuzz</a> producer Rachel Maresca told MTV News. "She paired her bold, blue hair with a very light-blue Elie Saab lace gown. She looked stunning, and it's a more subdued look for her. We don't always see that out of her, but it is very glamorous." Another statement dress belonged to <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/fergie_bep_/artist.jhtml">Fergie</a>, who called her Jean Paul Gaultier couture gown her "safe choice," which it was far from. The vibrant orange lace gown allowed her black bra and panties to see through, but according to Fergie, when Gaultier gives you a custom look, you have to wear it. "When Jean Paul Gaultier couture gown comes and it's shipped to you and it fits, you wear it," <a href="/news/articles/1679082/grammy-awards-fergie-whitney-houston.jhtml">Fergie told our own Sway Calloway</a>. Yet, out of all these amazing artists, it seems the fashion night belonged to Rihanna. Jaws dropped as she worked the carpet in a one-of-a-kind Armani dress that she helped design. Judge also takes shot at 'The Voice,' asking, 'How many artists have they discovered?'
By John Mitchell
<P>Simon Cowell is finally opening up about the cast shakeups on "The X Factor" as well as about rumors that two <i>very</i> famous divas are in talks to join Fox's reality singing competition. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:698604.id:1672066" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Late last month, it was announced that judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones had been <a href="/news/articles/1678191/paula-abdul-exits-x-factor.jhtml">fired from "X Factor"</a> and would be replaced in its second season. The announcement came as a shock to fans, but Cowell tells <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/simon-cowell-x-factor-firings-voice-287806" target="_blank">"Extra"</a> in an interview airing Wednesday (February 8) that the decision was a long time coming and was ultimately made "at the beginning of the year — and we were told it had to happen straight away." While her dismissal came as a surprise, Cowell says Abdul "was very gracious" about it. "She understands it's business," Cowell said of his real-life friend. "It's never personal." Scherzinger, according to Cowell, was "disappointed" with the producers' decision to replace her. But the former Pussycat Doll insisted in a new <a href="http://www.accesshollywood.com/nicole-scherzinger-talks-x-factor-departure-i-have-no-regrets_article_60184" target="_blank">"Access Hollywood"</a> interview that she "had a wonderful experience on the show." "What happened? Well, all I know is that I gave 110 percent to that show," she said. "I know everybody's talking about it, they're saying good, bad, they love me or hate me, but the one thing you can't say is that I didn't give it my all." Cowell also used his time with "Extra" to squash rumors that Beyoncé or Mariah Carey might be joining the "X Factor" team when it returns to Fox later this year. He seemed particularly amused by <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/02/08/idUS114237084820120208" target="_blank">talk</a> that the show was offering Beyoncé a nine-figure contract to join the judges' table. "The budget for the show is $100 million. That would never ever happen. It's absolute nonsense," he told "Extra." "No one is going to pay $100 million for someone. I genuinely haven't had a conversation with her about it. Not at all." The same can be said for Carey, who Cowell said he likes very much and would be a fine addition to the show but is an impractical choice because of the long hours involved. "I adore her, love her," he said. "But you can't expect someone who has just had two kids [and] has a record career to make the kind of commitment we would need on this show." "X Factor" did not perform as strongly as expected in the ratings last fall, which many feel precipitated the planned revamp, though the ever-cool Cowell is not sweating the competition. In this latest interview, Cowell took on "The Voice," which returned to NBC after the Super Bowl and delivered big ratings, saying the makeup of his judging panel is what sets "X Factor" apart. "I would ask how many records have they made, how many artists have they discovered?" Cowell asked of "The Voice" mentors Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. "That's where we have to be different on the judging panel. It's very important that you have people on the panel that have actually signed and made artists successful all over the world, not just have made hit records yourself."</p>

"As our accomplished stars demonstrate, compassion isn't just a virtue — it's also a road to success."</p>

The duo sat down with MTV News in Berlin to discuss a pair of unlikely collaborations.
By James Montgomery
<P>Theirs is a relationship that has spanned time and Twitter, <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/keshasuxx/status/77286418598211584" target="_blank">seafood</a> and <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/keshasuxx/status/157523381602889728" target="_blank">shaving</a>, but over the years, the unlikely bond between the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/black_keys/artist.jhtml">Black Keys</a> and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/id_3213641/artist.jhtml">Ke$ha</a> has grown to become something <i>more</i>: a genuine friendship, marked with the occasional trespassing charge. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:731631.id:1678505" width="240" height="211"></div><p> "We're friends with her, we've known her since way before she was famous, before she was even a singer, I guess," Keys drummer Patrick Carney told MTV News. "When she was 16 years old, she used to sneak into our shows. We kind of became friends with her by kicking her out of our backstage room, over and over again. She actually has snuck into shows in L.A., San Diego, Coachella ..." "She snuck in and [got] kicked out of one show, like, <i>five</i> times," frontman Dan Auerbach added. "[She] snuck in through the kitchen. I don't know if she's such a big fan; she just likes breaking the rules." So, when MTV News sat down with the 'Keys in Berlin during the premiere of their <a href="/news/articles/1678662/black-keys-gold-on-the-ceiling-music-video.jhtml">"Gold on the Ceiling"</a> video, we had to ask if their friendship with Ke$ha would take the next step: an actual musical collaboration. It's not all that far-fetched, considering both Ke$h and Auerbach live in Nashville ("I see her every once in a while flying by in her T-Top [convertible]," Auerbach laughed), and recently, the glittery one has logged studio time with <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/keshasuxx/status/160846424609787906" target="_blank">the Flaming Lips</a>. So, could we see a team-up on the next Black Keys album? "I guess, I don't know," Carney said. "We don't really do that many collaborations, really." OK, so if a Ke$ha collabo isn't in the cards, just who would the 'Keys like to work with next? Well, as it turns out, they've got their eyes set on landing a very big star for the next record ... even if they mistakenly believe he's deceased. "We both want to work with Jim Nabors very badly, but apparently he's not with us anymore," Carney said. Oh, <a href="http://www.jimnabors.com/" target="_blank">but he is.</a> Which means that, much like Nabors, the dream is alive. The Ke$ha collabo? Eh, probably not so much. <i>Should the Black Keys hit the studio with Ke$ha? Leave your comment below!</i></p>

From 'Shakespeare in Love' to 'Crash,' a look back at the Academy Awards' most memorable upsets.

Not every Academy Awards winner is met with praise and cinematic glory. Some past winners have come as surprises and even major disappointments to the audience, and among these, a handful will go down in history as outright injustices.
Though a surprise victory on Oscar night can be thrilling, it can also deeply upset the viewers at home who've picked their favorites. As we gear up for the 2012 Oscars, here's a look back at some of the most controversial wins in Academy Awards history.
"How Green Was My Valley" Upsets "Citizen Kane" (Best Picture)
Even though "Citizen Kane" has been touted as the greatest American movie of all time by the American Film Institute, back in 1942, it couldn't even win the Academy Award as the year's Best Picture. John Ford's tale of a family struggling to make ends meet in a Welsh mining town beat Orson Welles' masterpiece to take the honors and become the foremost example of Oscar injustice.
"Ordinary People" Upsets "Raging Bull" (Best Picture)
It upsets people when the film they feel is the best of year doesn't win the top prize on Oscar night, but when the supposed film of the decade doesn't win in its respective year, that's a thing of controversy. Martin Scorsese's gem about troubled boxer Jake LaMotta earned Robert De Niro an Academy Award for Best Actor in 1981, but Robert Redford's family drama took the top honor. "Ordinary People" has since gone down in history as the film that stole the Oscar from the best movie of the 1980s.
Marisa Tomei Wins for "My Cousin Vinny" (Best Supporting Actress)
One of the most famous Oscar controversies in recent years came at the 1993 ceremony, when Jack Palance presented the award for Best Supporting Actress to Marisa Tomei. Many theorized Palance had misread the card, mistakenly giving the Oscar to Tomei. In the years since, the actress has gone on to earn two additional Academy Awards nominations.
"Shakespeare in Love" Upsets "Saving Private Ryan" (Best Picture)
The film that ushered in the era of Miramax domination in the awards scene, "Shakespeare in Love," stole away Oscar glory from the one pegged as the odds-on favorite. Steven Spielberg's sprawling World War II epic was heavily favored heading into the 1999 Academy Awards, and even though Spielberg took home the award for directing, many still hold onto the disappointment from the top category.
"Crash" Upsets "Brokeback Mountain" (Best Picture)
One of the best examples of the power of Best Picture backlash, the 2006 Academy Awards saw the tides turn away from Ang Lee's tragic love story "Brokeback Mountain" and toward Paul Haggis' "Crash" in the weeks leading up to the ceremony. If you need to better understand the shock that occurred, go back and watch Jack Nicholson announce "Crash" as the winner, throw his hands up and say, "Wow."
