Madonna Explains Cutting Lourdes' 'W.E.' Cameo

'I just kind of dragged her in at the last minute,' Madge explains to MTV News of her daughter's short-lived role.

Madonna worked with a number of skilled thespians on "W.E.," but when it came to one smaller role in the film, which opens Friday, the pop star/director knew of one up-and-comer she felt would be perfect for the role: her daughter, Lourdes.

"There was a scene where she played Wally as a young girl," she told MTV News about her daughter's role as the teen version of Abbie Cornish's character, a modern-day American obsessed with the romance between American divorcée Wallis Simpson and King Edward VIII. "And I just kind of dragged her in at the last minute. It was quite unfair of me what I did and what I asked her to do."

Cornish teased Lourdes' appearance to us back in March 2011, but, as it sometimes happens in Hollywood, Lourdes' bit part will remain unseen. "But she was really great and then I ended up cutting her out of the film. Ruthless, I know," Madge teased. "I said, 'Sorry babe, you're on the cutting room floor.' She took it like a champ."

Making the choice to not include Lourdes was one of the many decisions the Queen of Pop had to make while shooting the film. But, hard decisions come easy to Madonna and the experience of shooting this film has only heightened her desire to direct more in the future.

"Yes, watch out Visconti!" she laughed. "No, I'm not a blockbuster kind of a girl, I don't think. But I do love the idea of making a sweeping epic romance. And now that I know how to make a film in three different countries, with several different time periods and lots of different accents; I think I'm qualified."

'Office' Spin-Off 'Not Necessarily A Thing Yet'

'It's just an idea,' writer and co-star B.J. Novak tells MTV News at the SAG Awards.

When Steve Carell's Michael Scott left "The Office" last spring, no one really knew who would helm the Scranton Branch of Dunder Mifflin. Eventually the company hired from within and that coveted managerial spot went to Andy Bernard, played by "The Hangover" star Ed Helms. Just as goofy and perhaps less bumbling than his predecessor, week after week Bernard has used his Cornell University education to try to be the glue that keeps the office together.

When MTV News caught up with writer and castmate B.J. Novak on the red carpet at the Screen Actors Guild Awards Sunday night, he teased that the show still has some legs and that, even eight seasons in, there's still some surprises up the sleeves of the writers on the long-running NBC comedy, even as they think about how the show might wrap up someday.

"We have some things in mind how Jim and Pam might end up, and how Dwight might end up, and how Andy and Erin might end up," he said. "And I've always had a vision for how Creed ends up, and it's not pretty. But we're still feeling it out. We're still kind of learning the dynamics in the post-Steve Carell era and hopefully we'll find a lot of new surprises."

There is, however, lots of talk that one of those folks will get their own spin-off in the coming years. Last week, sources said that a Dwight Schrute spin-off is in the works and that it would focus on Rainn Wilson's character and his life at Schrute Farms, incorporating other members of the eccentric Schrute family. But any plans for that show are mysterious to Novak. "It's just an idea and I'm not involved in it," he said. "And I'm interested to see how they develop it, but it's not necessarily a thing yet. It's just an idea."

<P>As promised, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/kesha_/artist.jhtml">Ke$ha</a> and her boys Lil Wayne, T.I., Wiz Khalifa and Andre 3000 dropped a new <a href="/news/articles/1672529/lil-wayne-kesha-ti-wiz-khalifa-remix.jhtml">remix of "Sleazy"</a> on Tuesday (December 13). </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="id:1661961" width="240" height="211"></div><p> The Bangladesh-produced song originally appeared on K-Dollar's 2010 <a href="/news/articles/1651081/keha-gets-sleazy-on-new-cannibal-track.jhtml"><i>Cannibal</i> album</a> before a <a href="/news/articles/1656039/andre-3000-pops-up-on-kehas-sleazy-remix.jhtml">remix featuring Andre</a> popped up earlier this year. The song gets a bit dirtier and introspective thanks to verses from the guys that play up the track's bumping beat. Wiz kicks it off, rapping about designer clothes and his lady love, Amber Rose. "OK, I'm young and I'm tatted/ I get them bucks like an addict/ Rocking this Christian Dior/ I spend so much on my fabric/ I got a wifey at home/ And what she wants she can have it," he spits before going on about chilling on the beach, being rich and his prowess in the bedroom. Sitting in between Wiz and Tip is Andre's recycled verse, before T.I. gets his shot and gets sexy, asking Ke$ha, "Do you know what to do with me?" before he launches into a verse all about how good he is to the ladies. "Bad bitches know me/ So don't bother introducing me/ They want me more than diamonds," he brags before explaining that it has a lot to do with his impressive anatomy. Wayne closes it out, adding his own signature flair. "We be on that sh-- that no one be on/ That's what we on/ Smoke that neon, Kings of Leon/ Dynamite, Napoleon/ Got some skinnies and a tee on/ And some Vans," he rhymes about his famous sense of Weezy-fied style before the song circles back to the funky chorus, where Ke$ha declares that she doesn't "need you or your brand-new Benz/ Or your bougie friends/ I don't need love lookin' like diamonds/ Lookin' like diamonds." If any of K's fans or critics were wondering if she has the swagger to chill with the guys, she displayed some of her sass when she <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/KESHASUXX" target="_blank">tweeted</a> about the remix. He also shared that he is now a part of an indoor football league and hopes to return to the NFL one day.

Both the sister as well as the girlfriend of former NBA baller J.R. Smith (currently playing for the Chinese Basketball Asso.) have been blamed for a fight that broke out last night during J.R.'s Zhejiang squad's game against the host Tianjin. After fans heckled J.R., his girlfriend got into a shoving match with Tianjin fans while his sister Stephanie flipped the crowd the double-bird.

Though she also had a fight earlier this month, Stephanie said this one wasn't her fault and she was just defending herself. She tweeted, 1st of all neither of us is embarrassed by each other. 2nd of all if ppl are throwing things and spitting at u what do u do?

SAG Awards Red Carpet Ruled By Pastels, Sexy Details

The SAG Awards may honor actors and their hard work, but on the red carpet on Sunday (January 29), it was all about recognizing all of the hard work they put into their looks. At the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, the overarching trend seemed to be flaunting what you've got.

Zoe Saldana went light in a sequined white dress with a drop waist and floral detailing. Kristin Wiig's look, though, had a bit of a split personality: Her pale-hued Balenciaga gown was decidedly glam thanks to tailoring that showed off her long, lean body, but her black metal choker was a bit too heavy and goth for the overall look.

Two of the biggest divas on Fox's "Glee," Lea Michele and Naya Rivera, made pale colors look red-hot. Michele's lavender Versace had a body-hugging bodice and thigh-high slit, while Rivera's ice-blue dress was made even sexier thanks to a plunging neckline.

Red also ruled the carpet. "My Week With Marilyn" star Michelle Williams was chic in a bright-red Valentino dress, which was cut right above the ankle. Her ladylike look was capped off with lace detailing along her sleeves and neckline. "Dexter" star Jennifer Carpenter also opted for a red-and-lace red-carpet look.

Using a similar color palette, Sofia Vergara's hot pink, strapless Marchesa gown was super hot. Her "Modern Family" co-star Julie Bowen went Grecian in a purple gown.

Emma Stone, Angelina Jolie, Tina Fey and Ashlee Simpson decided that a little black dress wasn't too simple for Sunday's show. Jolie played up her inner vixen in a Jenny Packham halter gown with a draped neckline. Meanwhile, Stone went quirky in a three-quarter-length strapless black dress with lace details. "The Help" star played up the fun aspect of the Alexander McQueen design with platform shoes.

Simpson, meanwhile, looked like a character right out of boyfriend Vincent Piazza's show "Boardwalk Empire" in a '20s-style Jenny Packham gown with sequins and see-through fabric along the neckline. Fey brought the "va va voom" in her black strapless column dress: It was all party on top — with grey and black shades — and business at the bottom in a plain black fabric.

The guys didn't disappoint, either. Fellas like Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Jonah Hill kept it classic and simple in tuxedos, choosing ties over bowties. One guy, however, had a little fun with it, and that honor went to "Modern Family" star Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who wore a blue pinstripe suit with a matching blue-velvet bowtie.

'Red Tails' Proves All-Black Cast Can Soar At Box Office

'I feel like this was a matter of just proving them wrong,' Ne-Yo tells MTV News of the George Lucas-produced flick.

It wasn't easy getting "Red Tails" into theaters, but singer/actor Ne-Yo believes that after opening at #2 at the box office, it was well worth the fight.

"I feel like we definitely did what we set out to do, which was make sure these incredible men, the Tuskegee Airmen, got the recognition that they deserved for the incredible things that they did for this country," Ne-Yo told MTV News of the George Lucas-produced film on Wednesday. "And [we] proved to Hollywood that an ensemble cast of black faces can put asses in the seats, basically," he laughed. "So I feel like we served our purpose."

"Red Tails" tells the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, a group of African-American fighter pilots who battled deep-rooted racism, while fighting in World War II. Both Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr. star in the flick, while Ne-Yo, Method Man and Tristan Wilds have supporting roles. The historical piece hit theaters January 20, the Friday before Martin Luther King Jr. Day and opened second behind "Underworld: Awakening." Not bad for the singer/songwriter, who was also named senior vice president of A&R at Motown Records.

Considering the movie wasn't especially well-received by critics, "Red Tails" did well in its first weekend, surpassing initial expectations. Lucas appeared on "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" earlier this month and claimed that major studios showed no interest in the film when he went to pitch it.

"It's because it's an all-black movie," he said. "There's no major white roles in it at all. It's one of the first all-black action pictures ever made."

"We've come a long way from when Martin was marching in the streets and getting rocks thrown at him. We've come a very, very long way," Ne-Yo said. "However, even with that being said, we got a long way to go. As a black person, period, we're kinda constantly in a state of proving, which is something that I came to wraps with a long time ago."

Despite the studios' lack of interest in the film, Ne-Yo decided to let the success of "Red Tails" speak for itself. "At the end of the day, you complain about it, or you prove them wrong," he said. "I feel like this was a matter of just proving them wrong."

Megaupload Users Plan To Sue FBI Over Lost Files

While the FBI went after the file-sharing site for copyright infringement, many users want to recover their non-pirated data.

The drama surrounding file-sharing site Megaupload continued Friday (January 27) as users announced a plan to sue the FBI over files lost during the site's shutdown last week.

Last week, the federal government took action against Megaupload.com, arresting several members of the company on racketeering and copyright-infringement charges. A federal indictment alleged that the site, which allows users to transfer large files, has generated more than $175 million in criminal proceeds and costs copyright-holders more than $500 million in lost revenue from pirated movies, albums and other materials.

According to TorrentFreak.com, Pirate Parties around the world are banding together to file an official complaint against U.S. authorities in an effort to recover the large amounts of non-pirated data, research documents and personal videos that are shared among users on the site.

"The widespread damage caused by the sudden closure of Megaupload is unjustified and completely disproportionate to the aim intended," they announced in a statement obtained by TorrentFreak. "For this reason Pirates of Catalonia, in collaboration with Pirate Parties International and other Pirate Parties, have begun investigating these potential breaches of law and will facilitate submission of complaints against the US authorities in as many countries as possible, to ensure a positive and just result.

The Department of Justice said the case against Megaupload is among the largest criminal copyright cases ever brought by the United States. The news broke just a day after major websites like Wikipedia and Google protested against the U.S. House of Representatives' controversial Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA, and the Senate's similar Protect IP Act.

Dwight Schrute Spin-Off From 'The Office' In Works

NBC considers launching spin-off focused on Rainn Wilson's character.

Up until now, we've gotten just an occasional glimpse at the bizarre happenings at the Schrute family beet farm. But if NBC has its way, we may be seeing a lot more of agritourism hotel owner and Assistant to the Regional Manager at Dunder Mifflin, Dwight Schrute.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, an unnamed source at NBC confirmed that the network is thinking about a spin-off centered on Rainn Wilson's paintball-loving character and his family's farm. The show would delve deeper into life at Schrute Farms and include a number of other Schrutes.

With "The Office" not yet picked up for a ninth season, the plan is to start testing the concept in an episode later this season. So far, it's believed that Wilson, as well as actor/showrunner Paul Lieberstein and executive producer Ben Silverman are involved.

"Paul and Rainn have been joking for years about Dwight's life on the farm, his family and how ill-suited he is to run a B&B," a source told Deadline Hollywood. "A while ago, it started to feel like a show to them. NBC agreed, it's been further developed to include multiple generations, many cousins and neighbors. At its base it will be about a family farm struggling to survive and a family trying to stay together."

As the Reporter noted, while Wilson's quirky character has a devoted cult following -- as evidenced by such comprehensive fan sites as Schrute Space -- the spin-off concept is not necessarily a slam-dunk. Just as the short-lived, unfunny "Friends" spin-off "Joey" crashed and burned, it's possible that the shrinking "Office" fanbase might not follow Dwight off into the beet fields.

"The Office" got a major overhaul at the end of last season, when star Steve Carell left and actor James Spader was brought in as new boss Robert California. So far, the strong ensemble cast has struggled to find its legs without Carell's outrageously clueless Michael Scott to ground them and average ratings have slipped down by more than a million viewers since last season. Given the show's legacy and appeal to young male viewers, though, the trade magazine said it was likely "The Office" would be picked up for another season.

A little over a week ago, he and wife <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyoncé</a> welcomed daughter <a href="/news/articles/1676906/beyonce-jay-z-baby-born-ivy-blue.jhtml">Blue Ivy Carter</a> into the world, and on Wednesday night, big poppa Hov had a bit of business to attend to at the reopening of his 40/40 Club. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:726477" width="240" height="211"></div><p> The stars came out and walked the red carpet before entering the redesigned sports bar. Jay's buddies Warren Buffet, Spike Lee, Steve Stoute, Kevin Liles and New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia all attended. "Hov always has big parties, so I'm definitely looking forward to going inside and mingling and jingling," Ashanti said. "We here at the reopening of the 40/40; we about to have a couple of drinks, a lot of beautiful women, New York City, the new joint — you already know," Wale said excitedly. Jigga's 40/40 closed last summer to undergo renovations and is now back with an updated look. While everyone was excited about the new club, baby Blue Ivy was a hot topic on the carpet. Ashanti couldn't be happier for the new parents, but when asked if she had caught a bit of baby fever herself, the "Foolish" singer made it clear that she isn't ready to be a mother just yet. "Oh no, boo-boo, no baby over here. I say it enough in my records," she said with a boisterous laugh. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:724136.id:1676907" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Music mogul and record producer Irv Gotti, who has three kids of his own, told MTV News that he shared some fatherly advice with his friend Jay-Z, but he wouldn't reveal any of it. "I'll keep that between me and Hov," Irv said. Then at that very moment, Jay breezed past the carpet trying to dodge reporters and flashing lights, but he did stop to give his old friend some love. After he and Gotti slapped each other five, Jay made a beeline for the 40/40 doors to get the party started.</p>

Justin Timberlake Is 'Perfect' In Coen Brothers Flick

'Inside Llewyn Davis' actor Oscar Isaac has been recording music with Timberlake for the '60s folk flick.

"W.E." star Oscar Isaac is deep in musical preparations for the next Coen Brothers film, "Inside Llewyn Davis," in which he'll play the title character. In a couple weeks, Isaac and his castmates, including Justin Timberlake, Carey Mulligan and Garrett Hedlund, will be on set, but until then they are in the recording studio putting the finishing touches on the film's musical elements.

"Right now I'm gearing up for the Coen Brothers film, which is all music-based," he told MTV News at the New York premiere of the Madonna-directed "W.E." "So that's actually taking up a lot of the musical creative energy. So excited."

Isaac, much like his co-stars, has dabbled in music, having put off recording his own music to focus on the film. And with some assistance from some big-name musical heavyweights, the music is destined to shine. The actor said the cast is currently in the studio with Timberlake, the Punch Brothers, T-Bone Burnett and Mulligan's fiancé, Marcus Mumford — what he called an "amazing group of musicians."

"It's folk from the '60s — old songs passed down for many generations — but new takes on them," he said of the songs being used in the film, which follows the life of a New York City folk singer in the 1960s. "Obviously we have the hindsight of now and so we kind of revisit these old songs. They're hopeful and beautiful and in contrast [to] the life of a folk singer, which is not very beautiful at all. It's very drab and dire. It's a screwball comedy."

As for Timberlake, the pop star best known for his bouncing beats can sing folk too. "He's perfect, really pure," Isaac said.

And while Beyoncé is nearing motherhood, Gaga admits she wants to wait a bit longer before giving birth to anything — but new music, that is. "Someday. Long, long day from now!" she said. <P>Even a dozen years removed from the White House, former president <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/clinton_bill/artist.jhtml" target="_blank">Bill Clinton</a> still has that same superstar-attracting aura. That might explain why such bright lights as <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml" target="_blank">Lady Gaga</a>, Bono and The Edge of <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/u2/artist.jhtml" target="_blank">U2</a>, and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml" target="_blank">Usher</a> have signed on to perform at an October 15 party for <a href="http://www.clintonconcert.com/" target="_blank">Clinton</a> at the Hollywood Bowl. According to <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/u2-lady-gaga-usher-headline-234222" target="_blank"><i>The Hollywood Reporter</a>,</i> details on the final list of performers and presenters are still being worked on, but an impressive list of movie and TV personalities are expected to sign on for the event, which is being billed as a celebration of the 10-year anniversary of Clinton's nonprofit William J. Clinton Foundation. To date, the foundation has raised more than $10 billion for some of the ex-president's most cherished causes, including HIV/AIDS treatment, economic empowerment, food aid and global health initiatives. The show, which will also serve as a birthday party celebration for the former Democratic leader (who turned 65 on August 19), will be broadcast exclusively by Yahoo, which will stream "A Decade of Difference: A Concert Celebrating 10 Years of the William J. Clinton Foundation" worldwide to a potential audience of millions. Clinton continues to travel the world doing good works, though he turned his attention homeward over the weekend when he participated in the 10th anniversary ceremonies of the September 11 terror attacks. He announced on Sunday that he will team with Republican House Speaker John Boehner in a bipartisan effort to raise the final $10 million needed to complete the Fight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.</p>

I went to the premiere on Tuesday and it was the coolest thing ever. First, the movie is AMAZING and Chris Evans is a superstar. Second, there were so many damn people there it was insane. I have been to movie premieres in New York before and they were nothing like this. I mean, they closed down Hollywood Boulevard. I would've taken photos to show you, but the invite said to leave phones in the car. But here's a photo of me in my cool Captain America 3D glasses:

(Sit down, stop jumping around, it's an awesome picture, I know. And the quality is amazing. It's not grainy or reddish... it's perfect.) (No, it's not.)

Anyway, Captain America is pulling a strong 71% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes right now so GO SEE IT! IT'S FANTASTIC!
